Slip trailing is a pottery decorating technique where lines of slip (a liquid clay mixture) are applied to a leather-hard clay surface using a squeeze bottle or other applicator. This creates raised, textured designs that can add visual and tactile interest to the pottery. Underglaze can also be used, but it tends to create flatter designs since it is more liquid.
