The Peacock Technique involves applying glaze in W-shaped rows, dots inside the loops, and a cover glaze.

I glazed this soup bowl in the “peacock” technique. On the outside, I stamped the sides with maple leaves. This glaze, Blue Surf by Mayco, shows off the detail of the leaves with minimal overrun.
I glazed this bowl in the “peacock” technique. On the outside, I stamped the sides with flowers, but you can’t really tell. This glaze, Cactus by Spectrum, tends to flow into depressions so that it obliterates finer details.
I glazed this bowl in the “peacock” technique. On the outside, I carved flowers that I created with a circle cutter. This bowl was my first attempt at getting Mayco’s Red Gloss and Yellow Gloss glazes to run. It didn’t really work.
